Child Clinical Psychology:
When your child struggles with anxiety, low mood or social, emotional or behaviour issues what you need is a confident, clear approach. With so much information out there, it can be hard knowing where to turn. I work with families who are seeking a qualified and experienced professional using evidence backed methods to create effective change quickly. When you are ready, I will offer you a regular session time, and provide weekly practice tasks for you and your child to complete at home. Together we will develop an action plan, and work towards you and your child's goals.
Common treatments we offer: therapy for child anxiety (including phobias and worry), low mood or self esteem, neurodevelopmental related support (ADHD, Autism), managing behaviour problems, school and social difficulties, emotional dysregulation and sleep issues.
What happens first?
First, contact us using the web form to arrange a free telephone consultation. During this call we will find out the main issues you are seeking support for and answer any questions you have. You and/or your child will be invited to attend an initial assessment appointment in clinic or online if preferred. This appointment is an opportunity to explore your child's main difficulty, how the issue started and what keeps it going. With this understanding, we will develop therapy targets and propose a bespoke treatment plan. Depending on your child's age and difficulties, therapy sessions may be one to one with them, or involve parents/a parent. If we think your child's difficulties might benefit from a different approach, we will recommend other services that may be more suitable.
Regular therapy:
We work exclusively with families who are ready and fully committed to a fixed weekly therapy schedule. Evidence shows that ad hoc booking, shifting times, or skipping sessions disrupts a child's progress. We protect a dedicated weekly slot for your family. This collaborative commitment keeps your child's therapeutic momentum moving forwards, leading to better results, faster. Between therapy sessions your child and/or you will be given exercises or tasks to carry out that fit with the therapy goals.
