Child Therapy:
Parenting a child who struggles with emotional or behavioural problems such as anxiety, low mood, or aggression is hard. They may have ADHD or behaviour issues, needing you to adapt your parenting - but you've tried everything and nothing has worked for long. This will understandably be affecting your home life, relationships, mood and confidence. It is isolating and lonely dealing with these challenges, when other parents seem to have a very different type of child to yours. We will support you in recognising your child's strengths, challenges, triggers and motivators, and use these to provide you with effective strategies for a happier, calmer household. An important part of the work will be to support you alongside the child-focused work, as we know that your child's issues will likely impact your own emotional wellbeing.
Common issues we help with: worry and anxiety, low mood, ADHD, tantrums, managing behaviour problems, aggression, sleep issues.
What happens first?
First, contact us using the web form or phone number, and your therapist will reply to you to arrange a free telephone consultation. They will find out about the main issues you are seeking support for, tell you about how they work and answer any questions you have. You will then be offered an initial assessment appointment, which will be online and (where appropriate) may be attended by you and your child. This extended appointment is an opportunity to explore your child's main difficulty, how the issue started and what keeps it going. With this understanding, you and your therapist can work out whether we are the most appropriate service for you, and if so - consider the therapy targets and propose a bespoke treatment plan for your child. If we think your child's difficulties might benefit from a different approach, we will recommend other services that may be more suitable.
Regular therapy:
Depending on your child's age and difficulties, therapy sessions may be one to one with them, or involve parents/a parent.

- Under 10s - for this age range most interventions are parent-led, meaning that we do not work directly with the child. This is because evidence finds this to be a very effective treatment method, especially because parents can remind their child to apply the therapy strategies every day - rather than for just 50 minutes a week with a therapist.
- 11-18s - for young people over 10 years old, interventions are delivered directly by the therapist online.
