Support around parenting, separation, divorce and co-parenting:
We all benefit from support, guidance and empathy around the challenges we face as parents. Families we work with value having a space to reflect on how best to support the wellbeing of themselves and their children. Issues we work with include:
We work with individuals and couples at all stages of parenthood, and also those on the journey to becoming co-parents.
What happens first?
First, contact us using the web form or phone number, and your therapist will get in touch to arrange a free telephone consultation. They will find out about the main issues you are seeking support for, explain how they work and answer any questions you have. You will be offered an initial online assessment appointment. This extended appointment is an opportunity to explore the difficulties that you are experiencing with parenting or in your co-parenting relationship. With this understanding, you will be supported to create some targets to work towards in therapy, as part of a bespoke action plan. Where it seems that your child's difficulties would benefit from assessment and/or treatment your therapist will advise you of this.
Regular therapy:
Therapy sessions can be arranged to take place in person, or online over video call, are attended by one or both parents depending on your preference, and are scheduled weekly. Starting the work together you will arrange a specific number of sessions - typically 3-4 - before reviewing progress towards the parenting targets. Between sessions you will work on specific strategies that have been discussed in sessions, or complete exercises or tasks that fit with your targets.
- establishing routines, setting limits and managing behaviour issues
- parenting stress and challenges related to supporting neurodivergent children
- single or lone parents supporting their own wellbeing while managing multiple demands
- couples needing a bit of help getting on the same page about how they parent their children
- parents seeking practical, logistical and emotional support while navigating separation and divorce
- planning how to tell children about a separation in a developmentally appropriate way
- co-parents wanting to align their parenting across different homes or communicate better
We work with individuals and couples at all stages of parenthood, and also those on the journey to becoming co-parents.
